| Introduction
Education is one of the most important necessities
of life. The significance of educational development
with a nation or state is there ever since the
existence of mankind. In the early stages of world
development, educational development was not recognized
as the principle factor in developing the nation
of any country. However, with the passage of time,
especially with the development and modernization
of the world, new theories have emerged that also
shaped the traditional ideology of earning education.
Today it is the world of competition. Competition
with in the country among the same nations and
competition with in the region as well as globally
states compete with each other to be the most
powerful country.
Therefore, globalization has transformed the traditional
trends of the world; the whole social, economical
and political culture of the world has changed.
Though in the developed part of the world, women
were being educated side-by-side to men but very
few were into professional education. Presently
the ratio in America for entering professional
education is not less then other parts of the
globe. Though professional education is not easy
for all to achieve due to the social and economical
culture of the country. At the same time the developing
countries of the globe has also realized the importance
of educating both genders on the basis of equality.
However, there are still many challenges the world
is facing to direct the better future of education.
Lets try to understand these hurdles and challenges.
World Economy and education
Globalization has changed the whole culture of
the world. Now the world is netted into a global
village where every country is interlinked to
the other. At the same time, economic development
has become the prime priority of every country.
At the same time this economic development is
related to the social, cultural and political
development of every country. Therefore, when
it comes to develop a country economically or
socially or politically, education is linked to
a healthy economy and a healthy economy is linked
to the quality of population. The quality of population
includes, good education level, recognition and
proper utilization of the skills of the population.
So educational development requires technological
advancement in today’s world of competition,
which is dependent on a healthy economy. A state
not only has the responsibility to educate its
nation but also to provide, the basic necessities
of life i.e. food, shelter and clothing. The countries
that contain a high level of population growth
where there is only quantity of population not
quality, it faces the most difficult challenge
to develop its nation.
Nonetheless, globalization has created two different
challenges in regard to educational development
of the world. Both of them are related to a globalize
form of marketing education. On the one hand it
initiates different cultural impacts on native
students, which basically is due to the replacement
of the mother culture. This usually happens when
students go abroad for higher education in foreign
countries and learn different languages and adopt
the new culture. So they get influenced by the
new culture and leave their traditional culture
behind, at the same time remaining attached to
the mainstream culture of these indigenous people
has become an issue of concern. (Wing-Leong Cheung,
2002) Furthermore, globalization and marketing
of education is also responsible to increase the
intensity of other social and health issues. Social
issues related to racism that is leading to a
number of social movements in respect to human
rights and freedom at increasing day by day. (Roseneil,
1997) At the same time the level of STDs are increasing
with this cultural and educational transformation
from one country to another. Both these are serious
challenges not only to the educators but also
to the other social sectors of these countries
existing in this global village.
Future of World Education
The current challenges towards the educational
development of the world that are directly related
to the economic development of a state and indirectly
related to the political culture of not only a
single state but also the global village, predict
a dark future of the world educational development.
The stagnant political development, and increasing
social, economical and political issues locally
as well as internationally are limiting the true
growth of education, both nation wise and internationally.
The economic and cultural globalization is leaving
negative impacts, which is increasing inequality
and discrimination in the various professional
as well as non-professional institutions. (Schwartzman,
2001)
At the same time, the world is focusing more
on privatization, so this is developing the gap
between rich and poor with in the nation as well
as globally among the countries. In this way economy
instead of bridging the gap between the rich and
poor people to provide education to all with out
any discrimination of race, culture and status
is predicting a very dark future of the world
education. |
